Eat, Pray, Love. Movie Tie-In

This beautifully written, heartfelt memoir touched a nerve among both readers and reviewers. Elizabeth Gilbert tells how she made the difficult choice to leave behind all the trappings of modern American success (marriage, house in the country, career) and find, instead, what she truly wanted from life. Setting out for a year to study three different aspects of her nature amid three different cultures, Gilbert explored the art of pleasure in Italy and the art of devotion in India, and then a balance between the two on the Indonesian island of Bali. By turns rapturous and rueful, this wise and funny author (whom Booklist calls "Anne Lamott’s hip, yoga- practicing, footloose younger sister") is poised to garner yet more adoring fans.

网友对Eat, Pray, Love. Movie Tie-In的评论

So where should I begin? I honestly loved the very first chapter of this book, which was about her pleasure hunting trip in Italy, well, I don't know, I guess I'm more into the European type of life, not that I'm against our asian life style, it's just so different, and you know what it's like with humans, we are always curious about almost everything, that's how things are invented, if Newton hadn't been interested in why an apple would fall down from the apple tree, we would have never discovered gravity, okay, too far off from the topic, so anyway, the first chapter was my favorite, I felt "rest":"so jealous of the author, because she got to do so many fun stuff and came across so much romance, which is what I'm lacking, and the food, oh, the food, it was so yummy! When it comes to the second part, which was the chapter I was interested in the least of the book, I just wasn't feeling connected, you know, I felt like the religion was too far from who I was and I am not religious, so when she talked about those big deep religious theories, I just got so lost, but I related to what she said about life and meaningful stuff, it was a bit sad but comforting at the same time, like you know what it is like, you are aware of the situation, and you know there's someone out there that gets you, but on the other hand, you're tired to make a change, and your heart drops thinking about it. The third part, she stumbled on a fierce relationship, it was awesome, even though I'm not sure I liked that truth that he was Hispanic, not that I'm racist, I just hoped it had been an American guy or something, but it wouldn't have been dramatic, but I'm still happy for her that she ended up with someone she loved and that loved her the same, even though they couldn't spend time together as often as they did in Bali, they were happy together after all, and that's what a happy life should be like, with someone you truly adore and put yourself out there for, no matter what. I love the structure of this book, first it's all physical stuff, then it's about your mind, and at the very last, it all comes back to your heart, it keeps transforming, it makes me realize one thing, what matters the most is your heart, physical fun never lasts and someday you'll get tired of it, yet, when you feel happy inside, it's always there, even when it's over, it stays there for as long as you want and like, it doesn't go away, that's why we all long for love and spend the whole life to pursue, may you find your happiness within!"
