我不是要评论这本书，书本身很好，因为不知道去哪儿投诉，所以在这儿评论了。阅读器自带的字典（共三种，全查了）真是要把我气疯了，非常生气。本书正文第一句话，有个单词confound，有迷惑和混乱，愤怒的意思，说起来就这两种意思，也不算多。恰巧不认识这个单词，就查了一下，结果只显示一个意思，愤怒的。于是我就迷惑了，愤怒放在这个句子里什么意思，根本说不通嘛，然后查了下有道词典，才发现有迷惑混乱的意思，于是豁然开朗。所以，我严重的抗议那个自带的字典，就算没有翻译，都比这种给人错误的意思好一万倍。而且就两个解释，不是有十个八个。怎么就会漏掉呢？
潘恩写于美国独立战争时期的这本小册子共有四个部分，政府之起源兼评英国政体，君主制和世袭制，当前美国事务的看法，当前美国实力评价，以论证美国脱离英国并建立民主政体的合理性。以现在视角来看，第一部分论政府之起源尤为有趣。
“Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness; the former promotes our POSITIVELY by uniting our affections, the latter NEGATIVELY by restraining our vices. The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions. The first a patron, the last a punisher. Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one."
潘恩认为社会【准确说来应该是社群】的产生来源于人类自然而然的需要，能正面促进人们之间的联合与"rest":"交流，呈现出保护者形象；相反，政府则起源于人类缺陷，用于防止人性罪恶，给人以惩罚者形象，即使再好的政府也只是一个必要的恶魔【以警惕人类】。<br /><br />既然政府扮演如此的角色，那么政府应该越简单越好，“the more simple any thing is, the less liable it is to be disordered; and the easier repaired when disordered”。如果政府出故障了，至少可以很快地修补好，这也是当下学者们强调“强社会，弱政府”的部分原因，尽量减少政府的干涉。这一思想也确实影响了美国建国思路，成立初期的美国政府承担的职责比较少。<br /><br />对于政府的比喻，此句最妙，“Government, like dress, is the badge of lost innocence”。衣服只是块遮羞布，但人总不能被衣服给憋死吧。"
用不着那么多废话了，《常识》是美利坚建国的基础之作。没有托马斯·潘恩，就没有美利坚合众国；就像没有甘地，就没有现在的印度一样。是他把当时美洲独立的必要性和可行性用平实的语言组织起来，从而让独立思想从精英阶层走入千家万户。按照当时的人口比例来说，《常识》的畅销程度仅排在《圣经》之后了。
鉴于国内很少能见到中文版书籍（这样一本宣扬自由民主平等理念的书，呵呵……），大家可以在网上阅读电子版，不过我还是强烈建议有兴趣的童鞋们买一本英文版的收藏。
The carefulness of the author while he choose the appropriate words to express his opinions was excellent, honestly I personally don't have any complains about this books, but my thought remain within me.
I'd readily to recommend it to my folks to understand that Common Sense.
It is one of the most enlivening books that I have read, although I am sure that I haven't grasped the whole essence of this book. Thomas Paine is indeed a great writer. I hope that more and more people might have the opportunity to this priceless treasure.
买的时间太长了，肯定没有什么特点也没有太多问题

这是多么的睿智，只有把政府关在笼子里才是人民的福祉，它才尽可能少的做恶。
