To commemorate this anniversary, Yen Press is producing a lavish tome collecting all seventeen original volumes of Spice and Wolf. Beautifully bound and impressively designed to give the impression of a medieval manuscript, the book will also include all of illustrator Jyuu Ayakura's original illustrations. The light novel series' story centers around the travels of the merchant Kraft Lawrence, who strikes a deal with the wolf god Holo that sees him transporting the homesick goddess back to her remote northern homeland. Uniquely exploring medieval trade, commerce, and religion, Lawrence plies his trade with Holo (in both human and wolf form) often becoming a decisive factor in his endeavors, but in the end, it is the story of these two memorable characters and their relationship to one another.

作者简介

Isuna Hasekura's debut novel, SPICE AND WOLF, earned the Silver Prize in the 2005 Dengeki Novel Prize with the series going on to total seventeen novels and both manga and anime adaptations.

I didn't think I'd be as thrilled as I actually was when it arrived. What a wonderful, wonderful series.

The book is constructed phenomenally except for some manufacturing defects towards the end, but all except maybe 15 pages are pristine, and those 15 pages have some folds that can be flattened out and an odd tab from a botched cut in the factory that can be trimmed with an X-Acto knife.

A little bit of TLC and it'll be flawless.

The font is SMALL. It's harder to read this thing, especially lying down, than it is the normal books.

the book is good, but amazon package is so bad. the only protection is a air bag. and it broken when i get it.

Very beautiful and befitting of people who love the series. although the box it was shipped in was not protective enough and some damage was done to the book. Very slight but noticeable, it looks like someone dropped the box and bent the corner of the spine. nothing worth returning it though.

I was amazed to find when I opened the box that this book was the size of a large college textbook, which surprised me as no pictures Ive seen give an accurate size comparison. The entire book is filled with original artwork from the novels, which leads to some outright astounding full color 2 page spreads. Having this piece clearly show Ayakura Jyuu's growth as an artist following the stories evolution.
Reading it may be difficult for some partly due to the size and weight of the book, or given the fact that to contain what it does, it has very small font and is read 2 coulums of texts per page. Chapter titles and the first letter of the text are illustrated akin to mid-evil texts with both being done in the style of ornate calligraphy.
The cover is sturdy and tries to simulate leather with the title and author script seemingly burned into it.
All this considered, my copy arrived completely undamaged except for one corner where some slight crushing happened. Overall my experience was great, receiving this artwork of a book timely and mostly safe.
