Warriors: Omen of the Stars #5: The Forgotten Warrior

The end of the stars draws near. Three must become four to battle the darkness that lasts forever. . . .

With a divided StarClan driving a treacherous rift between the four warrior Clans, the spirits of the Dark Forest are gaining strength. Ivypool’s role as a spy is becoming more dangerous with each passing day. Dovewing is haunted by nightmares about the mountains and finds herself paralyzed by fear of what lies ahead.

Then an outsider appears in ThunderClan’s midst, spreading discord and pushing the Clans further apart. As tensions mount and Clanmates turn against one another, the warrior cats will be forced to choose whose word they can trust—before it’s too late.

Hi. It's me,Sunheart. I think it's amazing Hollyleaf survived. Until I read Hollyleaf's Story, I really thought she was dead. I think Dawnpelt might have more sense than to blame Jayfeather for Flametail's death. Only Rock telling him to let Flametail die did Jayfeather survive himself. It would be a tragedy for them both to die. And Tigerheart, too. He actually believed his sister of an unfair accusation! Oh, Thunderstar's calling me to organize patrols; I'm deputy! Anyway, I've got to go. PineClan never seem to respect borders, they never have. Bye! MoonClan be with you on your travels!

Once again Erin Hunter doesn't fail to please us. With her unflinching abiltitly to show us drama and keep us on the edge of our seats waiting to turn the page, Erin shows us once again that these books are more than just children's books. To a child the story line just appears to be what it is, but underneath that you begin to experience and witness the underlined details that you wouldn't have caught as a child.
I praise this book on not just presenting mire Lionblaze, Jayfeather, Dovewing, and all other Power of Three drama for young children, but for also pleasing young adults with a story that is more than just than out your average clan living cat. Cannot wait for the Last Hope.

** MINOR SPOILERS **

** READ WITH CAUTION **

This series and the one before it have been a little slow and have dragged. I continue reading the series loyally because I really love the Warriors world and everything about it -- kits being born, apprentices being named, warriors being named, warriors becoming deputies and leaders, the disputes of the clans... it's just a really fantastic world, even though the storylines have gotten a little convoluted and strange lately. The previous series disappointed me because it didn't resolve any of its main plotlines.

This book, however, shows that the Hunter team is narrowing their focus and working on resolving the threads that were set up in the previous series. I don't feel like, as a reader, I'm stumbling along a path with no structural plotting. The action is much more interesting, the ending is packed with excitement and a heart-pumping battle like the first and second series always promised, and the characters area really being put to the test. Warriors is getting dark and I'm loving it.

We are starting to get some resolution on the following plot threads seeded in previous books:
- Where did Hollyleaf go?
- What about Cinderpelt's reincarnation?
- Where did Sol go?
- What's going to happen with the Dark Forest?

Those questions start to be answered, enough that I didn't feel frustrated that they were blatantly ignored (as I've felt in the previous books), but leaving enough that I'm waiting on edge for the last and final book of this series. If the way they're tying up the threads in this book is any indication of the quality of the next and last... you know you're in for a real intense adventure.

A++ on this one, way to get back on track ;)

As if it wasn't already tense, the erin hunter alias wasted no time in bringing this story to life. But the death of those in Starclan seems too final, I'm sorry. And, where did cats come from? There doesn't seem to even be a meaning to existence. Why not just go die? Life is pointless. There is no supreme being. There is no supernatural force. Starclan is powerless to prevent things from happening. This is why we need God. And in my mind, so do the cats.
