In Danger's Path (The Corps series)

Put in charge of the OSS's Pacific operations, General Fleming Pickering is faced with two covert missions in the Gobi Desert. Called to duty is a Marine he doesn't expect...a scapegrace pilot named Malcolm, his son. Together, they will venture incognito--and with luck they may even come out alive...

An excellent writer dedicated to keeping history true to the facts! I thoroughly enjoyed this entire series of 7 books and couldn't put one down without having the other sitting right next to it so I could continue. Each character is well developed and when talking about ranking military leaders of the time, he kept his facts true, insightful, and historically correct. I also thought his inclusion of specifications on military weaponry helpful, and necessary in depicting military events.

Having read the entire series "The Corps" by Mr. Griffin, I can say that I was truly entertained and enlightened by his knowledge of fact regarding the Corps and the actions of it's men in various campaigns. This was very dear to me because my late father was a Marine in Korea and spoke very little about his time there. Mr. Griffin does a very good job at mixing the facts as history has recorded them with fiction as he has inserted them to blend with ease so that a novice must constantly check the computer to determine which is what, if that even matters. For me it was a good read, I thoroughly enjoyed the series. Now to decide which series I'll begin to read next.

In Danger's Path, United States Marine Corps. If you have ever known a Marine, If you are a Marine "For once a Marine always a Marine" Then this book very well could touch you as it has me. I have read the Corps series Several times. WEB Griffin's Tell of a man, Under dog and loner for the most part grabs you. The supporting Personalities and story line are gripping. I could not stop reading, forgetting about bed times, forgetting about lunch. You will enjoy this Series of books if your not a Marine, You will find yourself pulled into the story, shaking your head YES and Fighting along side these hero's if you are a Marine.

Few books cause emotions to spring free from deep within, The Corps touches the forever Marine deep inside of me. Even after 22 years after taking off my Uniform for the last time.

I love W.E.B. rGriffins books, this is my second time reading the Corps series, and the Brotherhood of War series twice and several of his other novels. As a retired Army NCOS, I really appreciate his attention to detail, it's like I knew several of his characters durning my career. My only complaint is his use of the word "Won" when referring to decorations awarded to Military Personnel. Especially the Medal of Honor, the were awarded for Valor not in a contest. Other than that, I still love Mr Griffin.

As with all of W.E.B. Griffin's novels, this takes the reader back in time to an actual stage in our lives which many of us can recall. It gives that particular time depth, actuality from the standpoint of characters who might have been truly involved in the events that take place within the pages of the book. Another unforgettable read, which I no longer have because I lent it to someone. One day I'll replace everything that W.E.B. Griffin ever wrote in my own library and reread them for the third of fourth time. Wonderful!
