Ummmm, I almost cannot fathom how the depths of my love for my Critters could be any deeper than I've always felt about them, but I was WRONG! In a few short hours of reading Mr Cameron's 'A Dog's Purpose' I have realized that as a Disabled American Veteran who struggles with PTSD how they have saved my life & continue to save my life on a daily basis with their unconditional warmth, love, loyalty & compassion! They give their ALL to us in everything they do & ask for so very little in return. They are God's Greatest gift to us Humans here on Earth & Im so glad that this Wonderful Book reminded me of that.
This is a Definite 'Must Read' book for the entire Human Race! To go along and experience Toby, Baily, Ellie & Buddy's Purpose in life might not only help us appreciate our loyal animal companions more, but each other as well!
Definately a MUST have book for anyone that has lost a pet. The story is told first person by the dog - it is absolutely brilliant; the dog lives several lives and you will find yourself remembering your special companion in each chapter of this dogs life. You will laugh and you will cry - and you will find some comfort for your recent loss. It truely help my broken heart when I has recently lost my miniature schnauzer at 14 years 39 days young - she had been with me since she was 8 weeks old.
Thank you to Bruce Cameron for your brilliant mind to write such a heartwarming book for us pet lovers - once again, your book helped me through the most difficult time I have had in my life - I read it in one day.
Every single dog lover should read this book! I did not know it would be humanly possible for me to love my dogs any more than I already do, but after reading this book, that changed to 1 million times more.
I first saw the movie preview shortly after my small white dog passed away. I did not know it then that the film was based off the book. As the months went by I kept going back online and continued to watch the movie preview. Something about it kept drawing me in and I always felt better seeing it. Bailey was Ethan's childhood dog just like Cody was for me. Doby meanwhile, found a different spot in my heart and I continued to love this cream colored "doodle" dog in a unique way than I did with Cody. Soon, I discovered the book online and knew I had to get it. I started to read it and was unable to put the book down. My depression over losing my dog seemed to have purpose so to speak and each time Bailey passed on, I was able to relate to the heartache his/her owners felt just the same with Doby by my side as I read the book by the fireplace.
This book reminded me that a dog loves people just as much humans love their dogs. It's a bond we share with each other like no other and it's this bond I truly feel like it can last several lifetimes. If you are uncertain if you should purchase this book or not, please take my advice and try to read it. It helped me in more ways than I could have know and I'm certain you too can connect with the dogs in this book in your own unique way.
I cried and laughed and held my breath a few times as I read this great story! I kept looking at my dog thinking is this how a dog really felt about their human? The loyalty and the desire for human touch and their pleasing nature is what they live for. Never expected the ending this story came full circle!
