Dogs of War

#1 New York Times bestselling author Frederick Forsyth delivers an international thriller that takes readers into the darkest hearts of men and nations…

In a remote corner of the impoverished African republic of Zangaro lies Crystal Mountain. At certain times of the day, the mountain itself seems to glow with a strange light. Only the ruthless and untouchable tycoon Sir James Manson knows why: the mountain contains billions of dollars worth of the world’s most valuable mineral—platinum. And he wants it all.

To do so, he must first remove the unfriendly government currently in power and replace it with a puppet regime. Towards this end, Manson hires the deadly Cat Shannon and his team of mercenaries to do the dirty work. But he didn’t realize how bloody things were going to get. And when he betrays the mercenaries to a brutal fate, he doesn’t realize how far Shannon is willing to go for revenge…

This re-reading was as interesting and full of flavor as my first read. Seen from the perspective of 30 plus years later, it has become more of a historical novel. No computers, no cell phones, no gadgetry, just good dialogue, simple weaponry, and nicely balanced tension through out.

dont miss reading this book, its terrific and gives you insights you would never expect, a can't put down book that has bit of everything in it, I sure do reccommend it all Forsyth writes fascinating books, don't miss any of them

I am an avid fan of Mr. Forsyth. I have read everything he has published. The Dogs of War rate right at the top of the scale. The depth of his research usually leaves me with the feeling that I have learned more than I wished to know, but it never detracts from the flow of the plot.

When, get one of his books, I usually finish reading it in two sittings. It's hard to put down, but I do need to sleep

To me, he is the "compleat" author of adventure literature.

I always envy Forsyth's ability to not only explain the details of what is happening in his book, but his ability to actually explain in a way that is intriguing. Sure, this book has long sections of nothing but "SCIENCE" and not a lot of action, but the interaction of characters, villainous or super-villainous, is a highlight.

As my passion for reading developed in the 70's, I read this book and had to have more. I believe for the next decade I remained hooked. Finding this on my kindle was great because it is an all time favorite of mine and I intend to enjoy it again.
