There is no better authority on world textiles than the British Museum. The transformation of that expertise--and the accompanying visuals--can be found inthe latest entry in the Fabric Folios series. The book is formatted this way: first, an introduction to the history, tradition, textiles, and decorative motifs of Mexico; and then100 or so actual all-in-color samples. In Mexico, the talent's in the brilliant cotton weavings and embroideries, from the red and blue dyes featured to the backstrap looms used to piece together rebozos, huipils, quechquemitls, and other exterior articles.
