Recently, I gave my 5 year old my old Kindle and loaded it with a few early readers. He went off with the thing and a few minutes later I heard him giggling to himself... and reading. Aloud. By himself. I've been teaching him to read, but this was the first time he had ever approached a book and read it independently. As a parent, that's basically the biggest thrill ever.

I liked the idea of the book and the illustrations were adorable, but I thought the flow of the writing was a bit too choppy for my taste. Still a very cute book. Bought it for our dear grandson, who (after a few tries) was able to read many of the pages on his own. Great book for a young reader.

I bought this for my 5 year old son who is in kindergarten. He is a pre-reader and LOVES this book. Most of the words in this book has his site words so it made confident in reading this to me. There were words that he did not know but learned real quick. I suggest this to anyone who has a pre-reader. The pictures match the words and Rocket is soooo cute. I am going to be purchasing more Rocket books.
