I bought this because we love other books in this series. My issue with this book is some of the examples given are not things that make my daughter sad...they make her happy! For example: getting a bath and going to sleep. I'm tempted to glue those pages together b/c if we read it to her she may get the idea that she is supposed to be sad for those things which would not be good! Instead of sad when going to bed, why not sad for being tired? I feel like the author could've thought some of these examples through a little better so as not to generalize things negatively that not all babies are sad about.
Adorable little pictures in this book.... That's it! There is only one phrase in each page " baby happy" "baby sad", that's it nothing else but that. I'm quite aware that you would explain what is on the pictures to your child but if this what I knew it said on each page there is no way I would of bought it! I'm very disappointed in this purchase! I love the author but next time I will read the reviews on these books before I even buy them.
We took away this book because several of the pages in the book show a sad baby during tasks that my two-year-old doesn't mind. For instance, she loves bath time and doesn't mind getting her head wet, but in the book the baby is sad while her hair is being washed. The baby in the book also gets sad when being left for the night, which my toddler (so far!) usually doesn't mind. It wasn't worth the risk that it would make our lives harder!
This is a lovely picture book for the little ones. My 2 year old was drawn to the happy and sad faces. I love that he can look at the pictures and know what the book is about even if its not being read. I have many of these books by Leslie Patricelli and my 2 yr old has loved them all!
Bought several from this series for a nephew, along with some books for his older brothers. He immediately knew that these ones were for him and toted them around for days. He hadn't been talkative at all before, and his mom had been a little worried. I think these books genuinely helped him. Months later he still adores them and regularly requests to have them read to him.
