差不多出版100年了，没有枯燥的理论，全部是图解，很多机械原理现在看来仍然非常精妙和值得借鉴，做产品开发甚至做机械设计的人可以买一本备在案头时时参考，国内出版的书没有这么丰富又实用的案例。

I am an electrician and hobby aquaponic inventor....this book is a great "bathroom" book. Something interesting on every page. Great for "fix it" guys.

Classic reference work for invention minded tinkerers. Illustrations and descriptions from gear mechanisms to rope knots and types of ship sail riggings, etc. As a (now retired) product designer and inventor (two US Patents) I used to flip through the book just to move my mind's eye through possibilities when thinking about how to accomplish a particular mechanical requirement. Never literally used anything listed but it helped to open up the imagination about various possibilities. On the other hand there certainly would be no shame in borrowing something verbatim if it filled the bill. Why reinvent the wheel.
