I got the junior novelization books as a way to keep my Star Wars kid interested in reading, while still giving him time with his favorite characters AWAY from the TV.
The books worked. He read this book MANY TIMES this past summer. It gives a little more insight into what the characters are thinking and how they make decisions.
I read this entire book myself, because this movie is pretty dark, and also because of the romance in the movie. I wanted to see what he was reading. The section where Anakin's mother is rescued from the Tusken Raiders is nothing more than they show in the movies -- there are no added little details. Good. The romance makes Anakin more likable -- at least you can see the depth of his love and how he tries to act heroically.
I recommend these books. (About 190 pages)
Good book for average 3rd grade reader.
Part of a great series to encourage reading in my grandson. Holds his interest, appropriate for age 10.

You should get this book if you like the star wars series
My 6 year old doesn't care how bad the story line is as long as their are light sabers swinging.
