'Perfectly pitched for Key Stage 2, a mix of facts, humour and novelty flaps...This series is proof that the right non-fiction still sells' - The Bookseller; 'A super collection of information books from Usborne, which really engage the reader by providing interesting information, colourful graphics and plenty of flaps with yet more information' - Parents in Touch; 'Maths is, according to this addition to Usborne's popular See Inside series "a way of finding out about the world". With maths, "you can count things, and measure things, and solve all sorts of problems". The emphasis is not on how to do it, but rather on the uses maths can be put to and the enjoyment to be found in playing with mathematical ideas. The focus is on applying maths to everyday functions and the full colour pages are cheerfully illustrated with small figures busily engaged in a variety of activities. Final spreads add to the prevailing sense of fun with the games that employ mathematical and logical skills. While the maths covered loosely corresponds to, and builds on, that learned in years 3 and 4, confident younger mathematicians will enjoy exploring the new ideas to be found here' - Guardian Education

挺好的,英文原版,自学,将来教小孩子。
果然是名社出品。好书
This is a pretty good book if your kid already has decent experience with math. Definitely above kindergarten level. They talk about concepts like square roots and negative numbers. If your kid has already heard about these things in school, the pictures and flaps will make the concepts easier to understand and fun. I will return to this when my son is older. Highly recommend the books on the human body and how things work in this series.
We purchased this for our son's fifth birthday. Much of it he can understand; some of it is just a step too complicated.
It is an outstanding introduction and overview of the concepts of mathematics that lays a very strong foundation for future math classes.
My son LOVES this book, along with many of his other "fun flap" books, and attentively listens to my readings and elaborations as we learn everything inside and more.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for ages 4-8
I bought this book for my 7 year old grandson, who very much likes math. I had to get this version, which is British, because the other was too expensive or not available, I forget which. The money references are in pounds, but that just added to the fun of it. He and his little brother sat with me as we read the whole thing over many days. It was a big hit, and I liked reading it myself, so that is probably why it was so popular. I left it with them after my visit and have now purchased other flap books. This format is really good to hold the attention of the iPad generation.
I bought one of these Usborne pop-up books and since the kids (and their kid-guests) loved it I bought another. This is the other and it has a fun way of going through basic concepts that kids love because of the presentation of the material. Kids also love the "surprise" found behind those pop-up windows and interestingly enough, they care for the book because they like these windows. It won't make your kid a genius but it might make him/her more willing to try at math(s). Since then, i've bought more in the series and they are all fun and well researched.
Unfortunately, the book I received is not the book pictured or indicated by the title. The one I received is the British version called "See Inside Maths." The metric system and British Pound are used.
