Example Essay (Jeenn Lee Hsieh):
The best decision is always to be made about the right person at the right place in the right time, and that quickly, if possible. It can be argued that hesitation tends to ruin everything when the time factor is critical, not allowing a second thought. While making a tough decision, it is advisable to follow one's instinct because there is something optimistic and romantic about it.
To begin with, making a quick decision is a positive attitude that often results in success. Time is money, so it pays to act fast before time is lost, and with it the opportunity in sight. The positive mind is vital to decision making because it is likely to lead one to hope for the best rather than to prepare for the worst. The problem is that some people are used to thinking negatively, as if all decisions made without thinking at least twice were doomed to fail. In many cases, chances are that a postponed decision runs more risks of losing the game. The logic is that thinking twice does not mean doubling the possibility of being right, and that delaying from thought to thought does mean only maintaining the same decision or just changing one's mind due to the lack of self-confidence.
Moreover, making a decision may be like having a romantic affair, or more specifically, like falling in love at first sight. In love, as in war, one cannot afford to lose the precise moment that can make things happen in one's favor. Although there is nothing wrong about taking time to think carefully, actually some advantages might disappear and some odds may appear instead. Besides, ever so often success in life is rooted in romantic dreams come true. Therefore, to make a quick decision is to catch the first opportunity, even though the end is not predictable. However, a decision that is made after careful thought is not predictable either; so what is the logic of waiting?
In conclusion, when it comes to making decisions, one had better be quick in listening to one's heart romantically and making one's mind optimistically. In real life, for everyone time is limited and the tide of opportunities does not happen every hour. It is worth noting that time and tide wait for no one.
