Taking Chances vs. Careful Planning

Some people believe that success in life comes from taking risks or chances. Others believe that success results from careful planning. In your opinion, what does success come from? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Success is as often a result of taking risks as an outcome of careful planning. How many risks do you think are too many, or how much planning is careful enough? As the saying goes jokingly: "People who don't take risks make about 2 big mistakes a year and people who do take risks make about 2 big mistakes a year".
On the one hand, some people believe that if anything is worth trying at all, it is worth taking risks or chances to achieve your goal. There are times in life when you make mistakes by simply being afraid to act according to your intuition. In other words, "nothing ventured, nothing done, so those who dare... win! Figuratively, you miss 100 percent of the shots you never take. It is as if to recommend: "Go for the moon because if you could not get it, you would still be heading for a star." Probably that explains why many important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on taking risks even when there seemed to be little hope of success.
On the other hand, others believe that not many big things could ever be achieved without careful planning beforehand. As the cliche goes: "Haste makes waste". Indeed, there are also times when you make mistakes due to lack of well-thought preparation. That is to say, success belongs to the prepared mind and spectacular achievements are often preceded by careful planning. Based on this view, every great leap forward in your life comes after you have clearly visualized the 'long' road to success. The question is whether the road is well under construction.
Overall, while it is highly likely that today's preparation may lead to tomorrow's success, it is also important to take chances when necessary. In either opinion, the purpose of being successful should justify the means of doing things. After all, there is no substitute for success, be it sooner or later.
