Many foreign businessmen have found that China is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and one of the best choices of their investment destinations.\\
Today, we American businessmen are eager to learn more about trade and investment opportunities in China, especially after its accession to the WTO and its victory over the bid for 2008 Olympics and 2010 World Exposition.\\
Many American businessmen and their lawyers now understand that they must study the laws, trade practices, and cultural traditions of China in order to be more effective in doing business with their partners.

York is the capital city of Yorkshire and was once known as England’s “second” city. It has a long history dating back to Roman times. Indeed many of the streets and road bear Roman Names.
York is a major tourist city for many reasons. The city boats one of the most famous cathedrals in the world. It has a number of interesting museums and the architecture within the city covers different periods of history.//
The most famous cathedral is known as York Minster. It dates back to the 13th century. Tourists are captivated by its sheer size, architectural beauty and presence.//
Among the museums of York, the National Railway Museum and the Castle Museum are the most famous. The National Railway Museum covers over 150 years of railway history. The Castle Museum attracts more than 650,000 visitors each year.

Passage 1

Education has always been one of the major concerns in our society. However, it is more difficult to do so in the remote and poverty stricken areas.//
An obvious problem / major issue lies with the school education for young girls. Girls in rural areas are important laborers; they have to look after their younger brothers and sisters and meanwhile, take care of housework.//
Many farmers know well / are aware that they should make investment in their children’s intellectual development. However, due to their poor economic conditions, they focus more on the school education of their sons. They believe boys are the most stable family members and girls will (eventually) leave when they get married.//
Therefore, we have made special efforts to promote education for young girls. For example, we enroll more girls in schools for training nurses and teachers, so as to ensure more and easier employment for girls (after graduation).
Passage 2:
中国实行全面的对外开放的政策是指，它不仅对大国开放，也对小国开放，不仅对发达国家开放，也对发展中国家开放。//中国与发达国家的全方位合作取得了很大的进展，尤其突出地体现在吸引外资、扩大对外贸易、发展科学、教育和文化等方面。//
