The Books of Ember series was very enjoyable. Easy to read and full of adventure. The first second and fourth books were my favorite, but the third (a prequel to the first and second) wasn't nearly as good. However, at the end of the fourth book, you realize why the third book was necessary. This series is probably appropriate for 4th grade and up. It is also full of good life lessons, like - life isn't easy but you can be happy even if it's hard. It also puts a lot of value on being courageous, resourceful, and loyal. Read it. Read it. Read it.

It it my sons favorite book! We read it out loud and the book was great this is a great book for children to read

I loved this book and I started reading it about two months ago and I've already finished the whole series it was a great story and I got in trouble with my mom and dad for reading all night

Didn't care for the first half of book 4, but otherwise I really enjoyed this series. Book 1 was quite different from the movie with little things & had a couple of big things different. If you liked the movie you should enjoy the first 3 books at least.

My 11 year old daughter loves these books. I read the first 1 1/2 books with her but before I knew it she came downstairs and informed me that she had finished the second book, so much for waiting for mom! Within a few days my non-reader had finished reading the 3rd book and then the 4th. She enjoys reading and then later talking about them and that deserves 5 stars.
