很好的原版童书,孩子很喜欢。
In the annals of adventure stories The Black Stallion stands alone, certainly one of the best examples of nature/animal fiction. Published in 1941 it was an instant hit with young readers from all walks of life. It's a story of love, loyalty and survival for a young boy and a magnificent horse. This was author Walter Farley's first novel, started while he was still in high school but not finished till later, as a collage student. The Black Stallion did so well for Farley that it led to a series of novels about "The Black" and a successful career as a writer. If, like me, you first read this book as a pre-teen then rereading it now will take you back to a simpler world when there were no cell phones, video games or television. If, on the other hand, you are a first time reader, young or old, then let this be your introduction to that other time and place. Farley's writing style cuts right to the chase with no frills and only as much character development as necessary for the narrative. Starting out with a long sea voyage and a shipwreck, the story follows young Alex Ramsey and an untamed black stallion on the adventure of a life time when they find themselves marooned on a desert island. On that island the boy and the horse learn to trust and depend on one another, a friendship forged from adversity. They of course do get back to civilization and they each face a new set of problems and find new friends. Primarily written for teens (12 - 19 years) The Black Stallion is sure to interest both boys and girls who love the outdoors and horses. More than just an adventure story, Farley's book teaches us the value of family and friends and to never give up on our dreams. Alex's dream is to ride in a professional horserace and prove that The Black is the fastest horse alive. In a climatic race with two national champion thoroughbreds, Alex and The Black get their chance, and the Crown is up for grabs. There is often a wide gap between a novel and a screen play based on that novel. In the case of Francis Ford Coppola's cinematic masterpiece The Black Stallion, the screen play closely follows the book with some minor changes in characters and story line. Some scenes seem to jump right off the page and really come to life, making both the reading and the viewing a memorable experience. So spend a day at the races and place a winning bet for The Black Stallion. I had no technical or formatting problems with this Kindle edition.

The story was even more exciting than when I was a young girl! A boy and a magnificent wild stallion, shipwrecked in the middle of a stormy ocean. The adventure never stops! I think any child from 8 to 12 would adore it - grandmothers love it, too!
I purchased the Kindle version with Whisper-Sync. This was my first time to try Whisper-Sync and I highly recommend you try it some time. It was a great bargain and I enjoyed switching back and forth between reading quietly and lying down to close my eyes while Frank Muller read the next chapter.
The Black Stallion was such a favorite of mine as a child that I ordered it for my 7 year old grandson. I thought it might be a little advanced for him, but he loved it! If he's anything like me he'll read it again and again. I was a horse loving little girl when I found this book in my school library, and it was like finding a treasure. I grew up to be a horse trainer, and my daughter did too. I don't know if our next generation will make a life with horses, but it is a wonderful horse story that appeals to boys as well as girls.
