本来想着如此便宜买本原版书,赚了。结果失望极了,绝对是盗版,印刷质量很差,还不如办公室彩色打印效果好。这个质量5元都嫌贵
My 17-month son has loved this book since he was 2 months old. We're on our third iteration of it as he is now strong enough to pull the pull-out panels all the way out, ripping the cardboard, but it is worth it.
I would guess this book is good for a range of ages...tiny babies like the surprise of the panels pulling out, toddlers can get into the story with the repetitiveness (my son says "no, no, no!" when we pull out a panel and it's not the right cat), and slightly older kids will be able to identify the types of cats around the world.
This book is one of my 18 month old daughters favorite. At first when I got this book as a gift I didn't think much of it, but once my daughter was around 10/11months she loved hearing and being surprised by the peek a boo pages. She points to all the hidden "imposter" cats and gets so excited and claps when the cat is finally found.. We have now gone through 3 of these books because she likes to "explore" the book on her own. She has taken apart all the double pages 'looking for the cat".. My only suggestion is maybe keep it out of reach as an only read together book, or keep multiple copies if you have a tactile child like we do. ( I just keep buying multiple used copies because I know how important it is for her to explore and manipulate the books on her own)
A good book for children just starting to learn to read--or showing interest in learning to read. There is one sentence per page and only eight different words are used to create those sentences. The illustrations add a whole level of humor and interest to the simple, repetitive text. Great for building the confidence of children on the cusp of learning to read.
My in-laws originally gave my son the slide-and-peek version of this book, in which you pull tabs to reveal the various cats. Two weeks ago, my son pulled too hard at some of the tabs and yanked them out. I glued the pages together but used too much glue and now the tabs are permanently glued in the pages! I tried to find a similar book on Amazon to replace it but none were available (at the time) so ordered this version instead.
I was really disappointed in the quality of the book. First of all, the pages are twisted out of shape. But the most glaring error was that on two pages the images are printed twice, one off-center from the other. Also, halfway through the book the print style drastically changes. At first you have a picture of a cat on the left page and the boy talking to the various people on the right page. Halfway through the image of the cat takes up both pages, while the image of the boy is shrunk and crammed in the upper right corner above the cat images.
I'll include pictures to show just how bad these pages look.
I'm pretty disappointed in the print quality of this book and wonder if it was a cheap counterfeit version that somehow got mixed up with the real books.
Fortunately the slide-and-peek version is now available again, so I reordered a copy of that.
This book is adorable. Yes the words are very simple (I have pretty much memorized it). However, the illustrations show so much more of the story. We talk about all the different cats (lion, bobcat, mountain lion, leopard, panther, cheetah, tiger, long haired domestic (probably Persian), and his cat is a short haired domestic gray tiger (like ours is) with 6 kittens (which we like to count)) We also talk about the other animals in the book (horse, donkey, camel, squirrel, etc). And we do the signs for "cat" and "bird". We also sometimes talk about the people in the book. She loves looking at the pictures and talking about the "kittys".
UPDATE: I wrote this review when my daughter was almost 18 months. Now at 4 she still loves this book. She 'reads' it, knows all the different big cats, and has picked her Halloween costumes from it this year (panther) and last year (cheetah).
