I was instructed to read this book by a friend who is making a great living trading the forex market. It's a great book teaching you what candle sticks are, how to read and understand them and what to look for in the various patterns they make. I do recommend buying the hard cover book over the downloadable book because most of the pictures are on a different page than the explaining text. I found that do be distracting having to swipe back and forth and in several cases swiping several pages at a time. The hard cover should be easier to follow. I gave this book a 5 star rating because I'm new to this and found the information extremely helpful.

As so many other readers have discovered after reading a cheaper book about candlesticks because they do not want to pay the higher price for this one, I learned I should have bought this one first. Having been a successful trader for over 13 years and read over 250 other books on trading I decided it was time to sharpen my candlestick skills so they could be integrated into my trend trading more fully as signals. I was not disappointed, Steve Nison was not only the pioneer who brought candlestick charts to America through his research into their use in Japan but he also wrote the best book on the subject, this one! The book is big and has clear charts showing and explaining how to read each type of candlestick formation. It is also a book about technical analysis and how to merge Japanese candles sticks with Western technical analysis for more accurate chart reading. I think all traders need to read this book just to have a working knowledge of candlesticks. I have always preferred to use them on my charts for the visual power they bring to reading a chart. I highly recommend.
I have dozens of books on trading and several books on candlestick charting, but this is the candlestick book I return to over and over. However, the reason I like this book so much is not for the candlestick pattern explanations. Candlestick patterns are fairly simple and are explained very well in many books (including this one) as well as for free on the internet. This book excels because of the way candlestick patterns are integrated with technical analysis. The author combines candlestick patterns with trend lines, fibonacci retracement levels, moving averages, RSI, Stochastics, MACD, volume, chart patterns, etc. Everytime I pick up this book, I learn not just more about candlesticks, but about technical analysis as well. The author's explanations are written in an easy to read, conversational tone and are packed with pearls of trading wisdom. I do not know this author or have any affiliation with him. I simply love this book and believe that most traders will, too.
