I passed the exam on the first attempt. Three things helped me clear the exam - 1. SPM 3rd edition, 2. "PgMP? Exam Practice Test and Study Guide" by Ginger Levin, 3. My PgMP experience.

I didn't do proper research before buying this book. I assumed that it will have questions that would be based on the PgMP Exam format. However, the questions in this book are based on the SPM (third edition). If you have thoroughly read SPM, then you don't need this book. I read this book only once and didn't find it to be of much value in the exam preparation. This book is for those who don't have time to read SPM or have read SPM and just want to quickly review the key topics.

On my 1st exam attempt - I tackled it my own way (without this study aid) and failed. That was humbling... then I got out of my funk and scheduled a 2nd attempt.

This go around I was much more open to seeking guidance on how to organize the ideas, interpret and prepare myself for the PgMP exam. After lots of searching online, as well as personal networking among those that had already gotten certified plus some that even contributed to the development of the new standard a few years ago - 1 name kept coming up (Ginger Levin).

So I ultimately selected 2 very different items from different experts to help me study for my 2nd attempt on the PgMP exam; among them thankfully was this 1. I purchased both items to supplement my own studies - and I found this one (before and after the exam) to be the most beneficial study aid - and I built upon it after digesting so much more material and concepts with it!

What makes Ginger's 'Exam Challenge' so meaningful and valuable as a study aid before taking the exam?

#1 It precisely follows the Program Standard 3rd Edition (i.e. the basis of my exam) so I didn't lose precious study time around work learning the wrong fluff or interpretive stuff that was somebody's ideas of what they think would/should/or could be on the exam. This stuff is on the exam!

#2 it immediately re-focused me on far more granular, and many more testable elements (that I had overlooked previously when had initially relied only on my own review of PMI's official materials). This would have saved me hours, days and weeks. In hindsight I expect I would have passed on my 1st attempt with it.

Each time I questioned a Q&A in Ginger's 'Exam Challenge' I checked the source materials, and bam! She had latched me upon so many finer points - I was impressed and it gave me confidence that I was studying the right elements with her 'Exam Challenge' to guide me.

After learning so many more points from Ginger - I could organize and connect to the exam content personally and that helped with recall and interpretation in the final stages of my studying.

There is a paradigm to applying the lessons and that comes only after I learned the terms, concepts, relationships (i.e. performance domains, phases, sub-phases, supporting processes/activities, cycles, benefits delivery, benefits management, stakeholder engagement, strategy alignment, and far more than a few tasks and concepts).

No regrets. Good luck on your exam!

I passed the PgMP today and this was not a help to me personally. Very cumbersome. There are other study guides and materials out there that are excellent. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.

Only giving this two stars for the Kindle/e-reader version. The e-format is NOT user friendly and forces two questions per page followed by two answers per page. Pretty confusing when attempting to absorb concepts in an ordered sequence. I do not have the paper version, but will attempt to switch my order from a Kindle rental to a purchased hard copy so I can get more value from this study guide. Beyond the e-format issue, I do like the way the concepts are structured to flow in flash card format; here's hoping the paper copy allows for one question followed by one answer at a time. (p.s. I tried this on each of my HDX, laptop and Android and it is only "compatible" with my HDX - very poor technical execution for a very important study guide).

This book definitely deserves much more praise as I find it too under-rated and overlooked. Although it isn't really a "question bank" type of book per se, it provides a quick-fire way of giving bite-sized test, with instant answers and explanations. I highly recommend this book!

A note to those taking the exam: don't rely on this book alone (or other study guide) to pass the test. It definitely isn't sufficient to pass just by reading this, but it was an important book to solidify and validate my concepts of the SPMv3 during the final week to the exam. It is a great confidence booster for me by going through the book!

Thanks to Dr. Levin for authoring the book.
