I'm still just a fifth of the way in. The book initially rambles on and is reparative on meaningless points and then it skims over some important parts, which are not explained in enough detail to get a proper grasp. Disappointing, as this is making me lose interest rather than be keen to continue. I'm sure it will get better, but just haven't got there yet.
This is a great textbook to learn Ableton 9 and is made of many color pictures and diagrams to facilitate the learning process. Anyone who is trying to learn how to use Ableton 9 should have this book in their library.
Easy to read and follow so far as I am only 1/2 way through the reading

Is a bit dated because it was written before some updates had been made to the software Live 9.

I love the simplicity and the clarity with which the content is presented. The written and visual (pictures) make this book very easy to learn from. The content has some significant depth to it but is also excellent for beginners. This book does not replace the manual but in term of practical knowledge and application it's A-1. For beginners I suggest a slowly paced journey through the book from start to finish. Not rushing and enjoying and digesting what is explored in this book will help you move slowly but deliberately to mastery of this very powerful DAW. If your not a newbie then cherry picking what you want to focus and learn is great also.
