This book makes it easy to design and build your own long or short range FPV autonomous drone. The book breaks down all the required and optional components into six easy to understand sub-systems; Airframe System, Radio Control / Autopilot System, Camera System, Power System, Ground Control Station, and the Drive Train System. Other chapters will provide flying tips, check lists and a many surprises in-between.

The book is built for the enthusiast for sure - I want to be an enthusiast but the book is written slightly above my level. that' snot necessarily a bad thing because it will make me stretch but it is a ton of information that requires a true commitment to the craft. I do think that this will be valuable to me, and I can easily see this as valuable to others.
I've bought 3 books on DYI drone building and general knowledge and this is the best by a long shot. If you are considering building a drone, buy this book first. One thing this book has the other 2 popular books I bought is the designs for several different drones including planes and copters. By design I mean a detailed listing of specific parts to assemble and where to obtain them for each design. My other books are more general in nature or focus on 1 design. The other books are good, they just don't give me the info this one does.
Decent book. Will need a small amount of knowledge of electronics or R/C terms. Meant for the aspiring quad copter hobiest not a sUAS commercial operator. I'd use this as a light 3hr read to lead into some heavier books. This is not a textbook!! Or manual! Literally one person's very educated and experienced opinion. Like any hobby, I'll do it my way and he'll do it his.
John does an excellent job of explaining each of the many features associated with operating drones for pleasure along with what works what does not and how to make an informed decision as to what equipment would work best in the many applications this sport has grown into. I will recommend this book to all my associates who express an interest as a must read.
Knowledge is a wonderful thing to have or to find. Direct and with clarity is how I will explain this book to my fellow flyers and builders. There is help in understanding every page and word of the way. Get this book and feel good about yourself.
