作者简介Thomas W. Wild is a professor in the Aviation Technology Department at Purdue University. He holds or has held several FAA certifications, including Aviation Maintenance Technician, Designated Mechanic Examiner, Flight Engineer, Inspection Authorization, and Sport Pilot. Professor Wild has earned numerous awards for his contributions to education during his over 32 years at Purdue. He has taught many courses dealing with reciprocating and gas-turbine engines, propellers, propeller control systems, and large aircraft systems. Professor Wild also serves as the managing editor of the Aviation Technician Education Council Journal. He has written and published many books and articles on several aviation-related subjects and served on boards of directors of aviation professional organizations.
Michael J. Kroes is an aviation practitioner and educator with more than 35 years of experience in the field. He holds or has held several FAA certifications, including Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic, Inspection Authorization, Designated Mechanic Examiner, Designated Engineering Representative, and Commercial Pilot. Mr. Kroes has worked for some of the top aviation companies, including Raytheon and Allied Signal, and spent 25 years as a professor and department head at Purdue University. Recognized as a leading expert on FAA technician certification, he authored a comprehensive study funded by the FAA. This study was used to develop new FAA technician certification content and guidelines.

I'm writing this review not from the perspective of an Airframe and Powerplant student, but rather from the perspective of a pilot. I found this book to be very informative and well worth reading to expand a pilots knowledge of engine operating techniques. While it's probably a bit beyond what is required, I can't stress enough to students and fellow pilots that the more they know about the heart of their airplane. The knowledge presented in this book is applicable to nearly all aircraft engines in operation, in fact I can't think of one that isn't really covered except a scram jet.
would be better if it had higher quality pictures, more color pictures, less page jumping for diagrams and pictures for examples.
The book fulfilled my expectations. Every topic about aircraft powerplants are there.
The book is paperback. Which is fine, but this book is over 300 pages. The spine of the book begins to tear the more you use the book because of how large the book is. Also, the book was very comprehensive. It definitely helped me pass my propulsions class! I would recommend getting this book
Pictures are hopeless crushed into left corner and unreadable
Otherwise appears well written .in current form not recommended.unless poor visuals are addressed
