截至2014年，涵盖了全世界主要的铁路机车，介绍简明扼要，图片精美。
这本书很厚，纸张很高级，铜版纸的，印刷精良，在中国印。大小相当于“大16K”，比一般 书大些。内容涉及大部分有过火车的地区，照片很多，文字说明详细。拿在手上感觉沉甸甸的。遗憾的是随书附带的二张附件没有随书送达，这书没有塑封，夹在书里面的符页不见了。书很好，但是给Z.cn一个差评。
We bought this for our 2.5 year old who LOVES trains. He already knew a lot about different kinds of trains so we didn't want to get him something too simple. He adores this book. We will look at it for 30 minutes or more sometimes, reading every detail about each different train. When it was made, how fast it can go, where it is, what makes it special. He can identify some of the most important trains in train history now and can tell you about them. He's now over 3yo and still picks that big book out at least once every two weeks to geek out. We love it!
My husband and I fell in love with DK (especially the Smithsonian line) during a trip to the Smithsonian museums. The books are filled with an immense amount of information which is presented in a fascinating, readable way. Of course the author couldn't include absolutely every single detail about the subject at hand, but they still did a wonderful job. The photos are gorgeous and a perfect complement to the information being presented. The books themselves have sturdy binding and stout construction.
The book is wonderful......BUT I have one problem.
The cover includes silver sticker with the following words on it:
"2 COLLECTIBLE PRINTS INSIDE"
Problem is that there are no prints inside.
Amazon responded by overnighting a replacement copy.
It arrived yesterday.
However, it too had no prints.
I would like for some responsible Amazon representative to investigate and
give me a response. Not looking for an overnight reply.
Pleasant news, I like the book so much that I've asked Amazon to charge me for both copies.
I will give one of them to my fifth great grandchild,age 5, who is fascinated by trains.
