有意电影制片人的，建议好好看这本书。唯独遗憾的是没有严谨值赞的中文翻译。书从最初环节娓娓道来至电影销售完成的每一步骤。不学究，很通俗易懂。是美国制片人必读书籍首选。其实很多国内的制片人，缺乏的正正是此书里提到的好些方面……

对starter来说特别有帮助，带你全面了解制片人生活工作的方方面面。it's well-organized, interesting and encouraging. 但你同时也会看到制片人工作的不易和艰辛。还有case study！

但如果你想了解具体的法律和商业相关操作，则需另外参考其他书籍。

I recommend reading this book in conjunction with "The Indie Producers Handbook: Creative Producing from A to Z" by Myrl Schreibman. These two books together will give you a terrific foundation to being your indie producing career. "So You Want to Be a Producer" is definitely a lighter, and in my opinion, more fulfilling read because it is less business-oriented than Schreibman's. Turman shares many of his stories from decades of producing in Hollywood. This should be every producer's go-to book for inspiration and gratification.

If you want to know the basics of producing, this is a great way to get started. Fantastic read. I had to buy it for a film school producing class and honestly wish I had bought this book and not taken the class.

So you want to be a Producer? Then read Turman's book before setting your foot into a craft you think you know everything about while you actually ignore everything about. Turman gives you the nuts and bolts of what it really take to make it and SURVIVE as a Producer.

Lawrence Turman's book is lively, engaging, and informative reading, full of terrific anecdotes, quotes, advice and philosophy. Entertaining and very useful.
