Freckle Juice

What’s a guy gotta do to get some freckles? This perennial bestselling favorite from Judy Blume has a fresh new look!

More than anything in the world, Andrew Marcus wants freckles. His classmate Nicky has freckles—they cover his face, his ears, and the whole back of his neck. But when Andrew asks Nicky where he got them, Nicky just says he was born with them. Some help he is!

That’s when Sharon offers Andrew her secret freckle juice recipe—for fifty cents, she promises, Andrew can look just like Nicky. His freckleless days are over! He rushes home to whip up the concoction. Grape juice, vinegar, mustard…

But what starts out as a simple freckle juice recipe quickly turns into something disastrous. Andrew is still determined to get his freckles, and to show that pesky Sharon that she doesn’t know everything—and he has the perfect solution! Or does he?

The following review was written by second grade students in 2M after reading this text in book clubs.

The book we are reading is Freckle Juice by Judy Blume. It is a book about a boy who really wants freckles. First, Sharon gives Andrew Freckle Juice. Andrew wants freckles because Nicky has freckles. I think that Sharon does not like Andrew because she kind of tricked him. Next, Andrew got sick and felt terrible. Read this book to see if he gets freckles. I would not recommend this book because it is too short and did not make sense. I would give this book and two out of 10 because I did not really understand Andrew and I did not like the ending.

I love the book. But the one shown by the seller was not the one I received. I received the new cover with different illustrations. This doesn't work so well when you are trying to run a book club with 3rd graders. You need the same book with the same pages and illustrations. This seller needs to advertise what they are actually selling.

I read this book as a child and I loved it! I bought it for my children and read it to them. I was thinking it would take a few days to get through but they loved it so much we finished it in one afternoon. My daughter who recently started doing book reports at school re-read it and did her book report on it. Definitely a timeless classic that all kids should read! I didn't realize how much Judy Blume understood kids until I had kids of my own and read them this book! A great story which really pulls kids in with the humor!

This book was for my daughter's summer reading assignment. She enjoyed it quite a bit and I didn't think it was boring.

My 7 year old is obsessed and was very happy when this was delivered. Very quick delivery!
