I have been buying the National Geographic Readers, Pre-reader level, for my granddaughter who is 2 1/2 years old. She now has most of the pre-readers. My granddaughter has trouble sitting still for storytime but will for these books. The pictures hold her attention and the text is interesting but short.

I have tons of the Nat Geo Readers. I have a class set. Most of them are great combining visuals with content to give children experiences with informational texts. It's also all over the place first, it starts off talking about family then things cubs learn then things lions do - no focus. It doesn't even tell the reader what a cub is... It's just poorly written. The Nat Geo set is great but is particular book is very low on content - even as a pre-reader. I am going to save it for my toddler.

Beyond cute

Decent. I like Neuman's work, and love science books- especially for this age group. I would have liked to have seen information about diet and habitat, which was not in this book but others in the series have those components. Oversight I'm sure.
