媒体推荐“A Wrinkle in Time is one of my favorite books of all time. I've read it so often, I know it by heart. Meg Murry was my hero growing up. I wanted glasses and braces and my parents to stick me in an attic bedroom. And I so wanted to save Charles Wallace from IT.” ―Meg Cabot
“A book that every young person should read, a book that provides a road map for seeking knowledge and compassion even at the worst of times, a book to make the world a better place.” ―Cory Doctorow
“[L'Engle's] work is one of the things that made me a writer, a science fiction and fantasy fan, an avid reader. Hers were the first books I read that mixed math and magic, the quest and the quantum.” ―Scott Westerfeld
“A Wrinkle in Time taught me that you can tackle even the deepest and most slippery concepts of physics and philosophy in fiction for young readers. It's a great lesson for all writers, and a tough tesseract to follow.” ―David Lubar
作者简介Madeleine L'Engle (1918–2007) was the Newbery Medal-winning author of more than 60 books, including the much-loved A Wrinkle in Time. Born in 1918, L'Engle grew up in New York City, Switzerland, South Carolina and Massachusetts. Her father was a reporter and her mother had studied to be a pianist, and their house was always full of musicians and theater people. L'Engle graduated cum laude from Smith College, then returned to New York to work in the theater. While touring with a play, she wrote her first book, The Small Rain, originally published in 1945. She met her future husband, Hugh Franklin, when they both appeared in The Cherry Orchard.
Upon becoming Mrs. Franklin, L'Engle gave up the stage in favor of the typewriter. In the years her three children were growing up, she wrote four more novels. Hugh Franklin temporarily retired from the theater, and the family moved to western Connecticut and for ten years ran a general store. Her book Meet the Austins, an American Library Association Notable Children's Book of 1960, was based on this experience.
Her science fantasy classic A Wrinkle in Time was awarded the 1963 Newbery Medal. Two companion novels, A Wind in the Door and A Swiftly Tilting Planet (a Newbery Honor book), complete what has come to be known as The Time Trilogy, a series that continues to grow in popularity with a new generation of readers. Her 1980 book A Ring of Endless Light won the Newbery Honor. L'Engle passed away in 2007 in Litchfield, Connecticut.

I loved this as a child. I re-read it for a young adult fiction book club, and discovered that it spoke to 10-year-old me very differently than 30-year-old me. As an adult, the plot was noticeably jumpy, and the characters less vivid.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book for children, but unless your imagination has remained childlike, as mine unfortunately, but decidedly, has not, cherish your childhood memories of it without the tarnishing by adding those of older, narrowed eyes.
A Wrinkle in Time is the story of Meg Murry, a particularly unremarkable girl with a normal life, not-so-normal little brother, and a father that has vanished. But the normality ends there when her littlest brother, Charles Wallace, meets Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which. Suddenly, Megs normal life is anything but as she is whisked into the universe on the hunt to find her missing father alongside Charles Wallace and her new friend Calvin O'Keefe. Things are not as simple as they once were and Meg must face her fears to save her father and ultimately her little brother before it is too late and they are lost forever.
Though not at all surprising, I found no grammar or spelling errors while reading this book, however I did find the flow a bit lacking.
I would recommend A Wrinkle in Time to anyone that enjoys young adult, science fiction and fantasy novels. Due to the content however, the story might be a bit frightening for younger readers.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. I wanted to hate it for how the pace seemed to vary throughout (one minute it dragged on and the next, I felt I could hardly keep up), but I simply couldn't. Though I disliked Meg's character, I loved Mrs. Whatsit and Charles Wallace a ton. Something about whiny teenage girls just doesn't sit well with me. I have to admit that the story was ridiculously creative and, for the most part, well thought-out. It may have taken a bit to grow on me, but I do look forward to reading the rest of the works in this series as well as any books remotely tied to it.
As I had somehow missed this as a young person, and as I really enjoy YA fantasy, I bought this audio version to listen to while on an eight-hour road trip. I really expected to be entertained and enchanted. Sadly, I found the story dull and dated. The reader was hard to hear above the road noise, and her voice was irritating and made many of the characters sound alike. Charles Wallace was not credible as a little boy being as all-knowing as he was supposed to be, Meg was in turns arrogant, whiny, and needy, and was constantly needing to be cared for by other people. Some heroine. (not). I couldn't stand listening to her yelling at her poor father, after all he had been through. The boyfriend would have been more at home in the Eagle Scout Handbook. The resolution at the end simply wasn't any denouement at all--really, really flat, and a cheat to readers who have slogged through the whole story. Others have told me that they really enjoyed Madeleine L'Engle's stories, but this one has not stood the test of time. There are far better good versus evil, fantasy stories out there.
Proof that you can begin a novel with an opening sentence about the weather, and said novel can indeed become a best seller that remains in the hearts of readers thoughout time. I was an imperfect child, and very confused with a strong sense that I must have been adopted as there was no way I could have been blood related to my family. As a teen I read this novel so many times I began believing Meg Murray and I were best buds.
In my late twenties, I re-read this novel as a book club event and was amazed by all the women who also related and offered comments on how this book directly touched their lives. In significant fashion. Later into my thirties, another group still discussed this novel, espousing the wisdom found within these pages. We all agreed A Wrinkle in Time to be a "Must read" for all teen girls and even boys. It likely won't resonate with men like it does women, but it's one of the most relatable books for females I've ever read.
I strongly recommend this book to women of all ages, and like me, believe teens will pull this out in a decade to read again. And pass to their children and grandchildren. I still own a tattered print copy as it was my saving grace when turmoil took over my life.
There are more novels by Ms. L'Engle, but A Wrinkle in Time will forever remain my favorite - and it's the foremost book I will be suggesting to my granddaughters when they are coming into their teens. Please do not interpret this as an adolescent read, for it is not. This is simply one of the best coming of age novels ever written for women, and I hope you will take time to read it as it will forever change you and most likely become a "go-to referral" when things in your life get a bit overwhelming
So worth the money - no matter your age!!!
