The goddess of battle, Morrigan, comes to Hoyt's rescue, but only to charge him with leading the greatest battle ever waged against Lilith and her demons. Hill portrays vampires with ragged, husky demonic whispers. However, his excellent narrative skills cannot salvage this unbelievable, unimaginative plot, or the one-dimensional characters who are impossible to keep track of.
