内容简介 Product DescriptionIn real life as well as on his long-running hit sitcom According to Jim, Jim Belushi is known as a guy's guy: He's often irascible, generally bombastic, and married to a babe who loves him because underneath it all he's got a heart of gold. But it wasn't always so -- Belushi hit bottom, hard, before climbing back to where he is now. In his book of manly instruction, now in paperback, Belushi offers sage advice from the school of hard knocks, including:--How to Be a Man: featuring Subjects All Men Must Be Versed In (meat, war, sports, television, and "knowing a guy who . . ."); --Dating: including How to Get a Phone Number, and Pretending to Be a Lot More Interesting Than You Really Are; --The Book of Love: unbeatable advice for long-term success, like Say No to Every Fourth Question, and Once in a While, Be Vulnerable.
作者简介 Jim Belushi is the star of ABC's popular sitcom
According to Jim, which attracts nearly seven million viewers each week. Belushi lives in California.
专业书评 From Publishers Weekly Comedian Belushi keeps the cheap belly laughs to a minimum in his first book, a "guy's guy" take on what it means to be a man. After a short multiple choice quiz on manliness, Belushi tones down the jokes and speaks honestly about what it was like to lose his brother John and pursue a career of his own while constantly being reminded of his brother's talents. A conversation with a close friend after his second divorce made Belushi take stock of his life, and he shares the insights he gained. Packed with anecdotes, self-deprecating jokes about movies like Red Heat and K-9 and dotted with campy quizzes, he offers rather straightforward advice devoid of whining, hugging and sharing. In the first third of the book he encourages readers to get to know themselves without being condescending or trite. He then moves on to dating ("Ugly = Bad/Pretty = Good"), romance ("Making love is what you do with your wife while you're thinking about CNN's Heidi Collins") and relationships ("If you think she's cheating on you, then she is-and she'll never admit it"). He frequently refers to his and his friends' failings, advising readers not to make the same mistakes, and while this isn't the pinnacle of relationship-and-lifestyle books, Belushi offers more worthwhile advice than you'd think.

--This text refers to the Hardcover edition. From AudioFile Maybe they should. Jim Belushi is a comedian. Keep in mind this is supposed to be funny. It helps to like Belushi and his television show, "According to Jim." This is not a novel, not a memoir, not self-help. There's no great writing here; it's basic frat boy material about men and women. Belushi does a fine job performing. It's his book--how can he go wrong? His pseudo-tough-guy delivery is amusing, assuming the real Belushi has more depth. There are a few nice stories about brother John, always welcome. But he should apologize for including his own blues-rock songs. Why does every Chicago actor think he can sing? M.S.
