内容简介 This brilliant collection of poems for and about girls will entertain and inspire young readers. Nine different sections relate to the aspects of life that really matter to young girls, tackling issues such as beauty, friendship, family, love, the past, and the most exciting and daunting of all, the future. Featuring poems by well-known writers such as Maya Angelou and Carol Diggory Shields, this book brings together diverse voices that celebrate being a girl. Moving and cheering, these poems will help girls to find their place in the world.
媒体推荐 "This is a handsome production which gives each poem room to breathe and speak." Books for Keeps (5 stars) "By turns humorous, affectionate, and as admirably unflinching in its choice of poems... this is a rich treasury." T.E.S.
专业书评 From School Library Journal
Grade 4-7–There is a fine line between cliché and empowerment when it comes to anything that shouts girl power. This anthology walks that line somewhat awkwardly at times, but ultimately with grace. The poems, penned by famous poets and children's book authors, move from topics of racial identity and body image to love and sports. Lee Bennett Hopkins, Gertrude Stein, Roald Dahl, Russell Hoban, Douglas Florian, and Judith Viorst are among those included. The full-page and spot-art line drawings adorn the pages as doodles might decorate a journal. While they are likely to appeal to the intended audience, they occasionally detract from the seriousness and fine craftsmanship of a particular poem. This title delivers timely and accessible poems that will speak to modern readers.–Jill Heritage Maza, Conn Elementary, Raleigh, NC
