内容简介 In this stunning retelling of a phenomenal classic, honor is tested, battles of good over evil are waged, and the importance of family reigns supreme. True to Rudyard Kipling's original story, tree branches literally draw the reader in to this tale of Mowgli the Man Cub exploring the ruins of the Lost City, riding atop thundering elephants, and facing a fierce tiger attack! A must-have for every family's library, this epic pop-up adventure features paper engineering as intricate and magical as the very laws of the jungle.

Jungle Book Takes City Boy's Breath, October 25, 2006
By Ron Lindsey "bookmantoo" (Pasadena, TX United States)

When I first saw THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ (from the Robert Sabuda Studios), I was sure that nothing could surpass the complexity and paper engineering finesse exhibited. Then, MOMMY was released (and even though Maurice Sendak and Matthew Reinhart gave no credit to Eastman's ARE YOU MY MOTHER?, I still felt that I had seen another remarkable advance in pop-up book technology. Now, that I've held THE JUNGLE BOOK by Matthew Reinhart and sat in awe at his two-foot pop-up, I cannot even conceive of what could out-do this magical experience. I'm sure something will, and believe me, I want to be there when it happens.

1.His books are always amazing, January 18, 2007
                           By T. Phillips

We have about seven of his pop-up books and they are all great. If you have not bought one of his books, you will be amazed. It is definitely an art form. I have a 5 year old and he loves these books (he just got this one for his birthday). The incredicle pop-ups really make reading fun and add another dimension to these storybooks. I will contine to coolect them as they make new ones. The price is worth it and you should probably buy it here because I saw one of his books in Target for about 10 dollars more than on Amazon.

this masterpiece is simply testing the limits of paper engineering. you'll be astonished and surprised every time you open the book. over and over again. even for the 20th time.

Grade 2-4–Tableaus of amazing size and intricacy unfold–and then unfold more–with each leaf's turn in this adaptation of Kipling's classic tale. Reinhart begins with a broad jungle scene for baby Mowgli's rescue from Shere Khan. He sets the lad's rescue from the monkeys against a towering ruin; takes him to the treasure chambers where White Cobra lurks behind a flap; pairs his first encounter with humans to a startling, savage leaping tiger; shows him enlisting a herd of elephants to destroy the village; and finishes with his farewell to a reunion of downcast animal friends on craggy Council Rock. Along with smaller pop-ups, the text is tucked beneath flaps in one or two corners of each scene. That text has been dramatically shortened, but Reinhart preserves at least vestiges of the original's stately language. Along with being a natural centerpiece for displays, this book provides a memorable introduction to both the film and the full-length literary work.–John Peters, New York Public Library
