Scientists versus Artists

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge or experience.
Essay:
Science lights the way for people to live better while art soothes the heart for people to feel better. For their overall wellbeing, people can benefit from the contributions of both the creative scientists and the creative artists. Even in this age of advanced science and technology, art in all its outlets still is greatly valued.
On the one hand, the scientists are known for their contributions in physics, chemistry and biology. The rapid moving technology in the modern world is due to the theoretical knowledge laid down by the extraordinarily creative minds who illuminate the road toward the better quality of life. Almost everything today is somehow affected—and sometimes entirely reshaped—by the various disciplines of science. This is easy to understand, if only referring to the most famous scientists of all time, including Isaac Newton, Marie Curie, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Alexander Fleming, Michael Faraday, Louis Pasteur, for their valuable contributions to improve people’s living standards. Indeed, without the creativity of these scientists and more, the modern world is not modern at all.
On the other hand, art has the healing power to console the heart that is often broken by life’s emotional complexity. Without the valuable contributions of the creative artists, such as musicians, painters and writers, life is likely to become resentful and stressful, probably with a dusty soul. In a situation like this, music therapy is a recognized and accepted form of changing emotions or ‘feeling good.’ Further, a beautiful painting is a joy forever, so to speak. Furthermore, reading a novel, a play or a poem leads one to emotionally find oneself and lose oneself at the same time, depending on one’s perception or imagination. These examples serve to tell what the artists can do but the scientists cannot. To quote Pablo Picasso, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
In conclusion, science and art are avatars of human creativity. The two are not enemies but different aspects of the whole that can help to make the world a better place to live in.
