主题句与指标句
Thesis Statements and Topic Sentences

>Thesis Statements: 在开头引言段中必有主题句。主题句是用来限定你议论的范围，同时也说你想说什么。成功段主题句大致有三个特征：
1--主题必定是可以议论的意见，而不是无须争论的事实。
2--主题必定要足够的范围限制，如此内容的发展才会有适当的深度。
3--主题贯彻全文，所以有焦点的主题可以避免跑题。
A thesis statement defines the scope and purpose of the paper. It needs to meet three criteria--
1. It must be an arguable opinion rather than a fact.
2. It must be limited enough so that the paper develops in some depth.
3. It must be unified so that the paper does not stray from the topic.
>Topic Sentences: 指标句通常是在每个中体段的第一句。好的指标句有助于文章的可读性和中体段落的组织。大致上，指标句有如下功用--
1--指标句在中体任何一段的第一句。
2--指标句紧紧跟住引言中的主题。
3--指标句引导出每一个中体段的讨论要点。
4--指标句必须与前面一段能连得上来，息息相关。
5--指标句能够指出文章中的进度到哪里了。
Good topic sentences can improve an essay's readability and organization. They usually meet the following criteria--
1. First sentence of a body paragraph.
2. Link to thesis.
3. Introduce the subject of the paragraph.
4. Link to the previous paragraph.
5. Indicate the progression of the essay.
