So much in so few words. Such a gentle, beautiful way to introduce children to all the eggs in the natural world and to the idea that they too started as an egg.
We volunteers at the zoo were looking for a themed presentation to encourage children to explore the world of the egg. We thought and thought and came up short, mainly because we were focusing only on bird eggs. This book does just that by taking the "egg" concept as a diversity of life example. For the older children, we can use real eggs; for the young ones, we can use the book and its lovely illustrations.
My 5 year old son loves this book. The illustrations are amazing and even look beautiful on the ipad screen. On each page there is a short sentence about an egg. In smaller text, there are more detailed descriptions about each aspect of an egg. So, one has the option of reading the single sentences or the more detailed descriptions for an interested child.
All of Dianna Hutts Aston's books in this series are wonderful. They are beautifully illustrated, well-written, and engaging, while being educational at the same time. I teach 6th grade but I use many of them to introduce science concepts.
Extremely well planned, designed and illustrated. Very artistic and educational. It's a great collection and would make a great gift. In this volume we learn about all kinds of eggs, their shapes, sizes, textures, origin...
Recommended by The Birds & the Bees as a series of books helpful to talking to your kids about nature and bodies! I've loved them as a great resource, and the pictures are lovely!!
