These gradually more difficult animal stories are a great concept. My students (2nd graders) usually love anything National Geographic, so I ordered 4 different versions. Based on content alone, I confidently award them 5 stars. But, sadly, on their first use, two of them began to lose their pages. I glued them back in, but I don't think these books are durable enough for children.
I love this series for my own family as well as students. The photos are vibrant, and the content and vocabulary are well-suited to building academic understanding for students grade K-3. This volume might be best for 1st graders as it contains levels 1 and 2.
My daughter turns 7 in 16 days. She's in first grade, at a level "J" it was pretty a pretty easy read for her, only needing help with a few words. Each sub book is about 30 pages of reading. There is good information in it.
My 2nd grader enjoyed this book. She was able to read it by herself. She remembered details about the featured animals and repeatedly talked about what she learned.
I personally didn't like these books. I believe they're a little hard for 3 or 4 year olds
