In the week we've had this book we have probably read it 100 times. My son (8 months) loves the different textures. And I love that none of the pages are just shiny. They all have some sort of textured fabric to it and none of the pages repeat the same material. All of the pages also have more then one sport to touch. For example one page has about 5 "spikes" that are to fuzzy and each of the spikes has a material on it around the size of a penny. Another page is two ears about the size of my babies hand. Overall great option for a touch as feel book :)
Our 1 yr old son absolutely LOVES the "Thats Not My" books from Usborne! Little ones are very tactile at this age, and want to touch everything, so its great to have a book with so many touch elements! We've been reading our little guy these books since he was only 2 months old, and he loves feeling the different textures on each page. The books are also short enough that he doesn't get bored and crawl off before we finish reading.
Gave this book to my grandson for his first birthday. It was a perfect book for his Monster Party theme birthday! He really enjoys touching the pictures and turning the pages. He has several of the Usborne Touchy-Feeling books: "That's not my...___" and enjoys them all! The hardboard book is sturdy and arrived on time. I'm very impressed with the Usborne book company.
I bought this book for my 8 month old grandson. On the one hand, its his favorite toy/book right now. On the other hand, he protests vigorously if you attempt to read the whole book with him and not just leave it open to his favorite fuzzy page.
Update: Four months after purchase its still the favorite, but its a shambles. Baby preferred that the book be disassembled so that he could carry his favorite page or pages around by themselves without the burden of having to carry the entire book. I suggested the possibility of replacing it, but the consensus is that he prefers it disassembled and would just do the same again. I'm going to get one or two others, but fully anticipate that they will meet the same fate.
We own several of this set, but there are better choices than this one. Many of the textures are uninteresting or too similar. One is too tiny. I recommend the pirate, dragon, or truck books.
