Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944) was born in Lyons, France. A year after the publication of The Little Prince, Saint-Exupéry disappeared over the Mediterranean while flying a reconnaissance mission for his French air squadron. Best known throughout the world as the author and illustrator of The Little Prince, Saint-Exupéry wrote several other books that also have become classics of world literature.

Richard Howard is the author of eleven books of poetry, including Untitled Subjects, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1970, and most recently, Trappings. He is the translator of more than 150 works from the French and lives in New York City.

I am a native German speaker and was thrilled to find the book on the American Amazon. I am very disappointed after receiving it and finding lots of misprints and spelling errors. The editor of this book did not do their job.
I saw a review by a high school teacher who uses it in her/his classes. I sure hope he/she corrects all the misspellings before they hand out the book.
For example: Dien instead of Dein, and instead of und, grafte instead of fragte,

I read the German translation, and then compared it to the original French text. I found it to be an excellent translation of a beautiful story. I did come across many misspelled words or misprints, however.

Being of European descent, and having lost most of my family that stayed there, I now have only 2 living members that I am able to converse in German with, thus, I reached out to Amazon, to find various German books, to read for my own pleasure, and that of my adult children and their children. I believe that the more languages one is exposed to, the morer pleasures they will find along life's path! This book is everything I was seeking and more.

I was not at all let down when I received this book (in perfect condition, too). I don't have a large German vocabulary, so I'm spending my time translating the book (on the sixth page so far) which has definitely helped (though if you're planning on doing this, don't think it will help with your grammar, because it will probably just leave you more confused). I recommend this book if you're in or are stating a German 2 class. You will still need a dictionary I'm sure, but it should be an easy enough read. The story is cute too. I'm barely in the book and I'm already hooked.
