I love this so very much! I wish dearly there were more baby books that use direct Shakespearean quotes set with gorgeous art work. My little one is 4 months old, and the first time I read it to him, he laughed he was enjoying it so much! I know what I'm giving as a gift for baby showers from now on. My only critique is that a couple pages have mostly text with a colorful, yet somewhat boring background. Those could have had a few dancing fairies too. It doesn't really matter as this is one of our favorites.
Note: This book does not use the storyline of A Midsummer Night's Dream. The book simply uses language from the play to introduce pictures of the fairies. And it's adorable.
I love A Midsummer Night's Dream but this isn't my favorite babylit book. I wanted to love it but we just don't. I think it is because each page just focuses on a particular fairy from the play and the names/language aren't relatable at all to young kids. I think Jungle Book is much better as the names may initially be unfamiliar to young kids but each page also focuses on a specific animal which makes it more fun. In this one it is all fairies so it just doesn't seem to be as relatable to little ones. Still super cute but not our favorite.
I loved it, and thought my 11 month old would too. I was sad to find she didn't really enjoy the content... And trust me, when she enjoys something she lets you know! Beautiful art, real Shakespeare excerpts, just doesn't do anything for my animal crazy baby.
I love these books!! Ever since we got them for our kiddos, I love to get them for other people kids as gifts. I gave this one and a couple of others to my niece. This one seemed to be her favorite.
I love poetry and the book is a great way to introduce children to a great writer like Shakespeare and to poetry at the same time. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Liliana Prina
