This book is great, as is the whole series (4 books). My 1st grader was at a higher reading level, but not ready for books with no pictures. The book is written as a girl's diary, which breaks up the reading into smaller, more manageable segments. It's a great bridge between picture books and chapter books. All the Branches books accomplish this, and have a number of different series with different characters to appeal to a variety of students.
My daughter absolutely loves this book! After she read this book she wanted more because it was so descriptive to her! So we bought the whole series and she read all of them then she was so impressed by all those books she had read! She also really wanted to write a book! So she tried writing a book which is kind of like the series she had read! We wish that more series would come so she can read more fun and awesome books!
The Lotus Lane books gave the younger girls a series to read that is on their level because Dork Diaries was a little too difficult for my daughter. The book kept her entertained the whole way through and made her anticipate the next chapter and book. The characters are diverse which allows the young readers to be introduced to other cultures if they are not accustomed to those cultures in their every day life. As a reading teacher, I would definitely give this book and the other books in the series to those students that are a little reluctant to read. A fun read. A page turner.
My daughter loves these! She is in second grade, and a strong reader, she reads one of these in 1/2 hr and giggles the entire time!
My daughter loves this series and she was just as excited about getting her hands on this book as she was for the other two and as she is about the next one. These girls are so relatable. Ms. May does an awesome writing to connect with the target audience. The writing, illustration and explanation for the lingo are all very much appreciated and totally on point.
