As a new manager I read this book hoping for some direction and guidance on how to handle new managerial experiences with specific examples and insight. The book did not provide this information. It did however cover a lot of topics in a more generalized fashion which is beneficial for new managers, just not exactly what I was hoping for.

I would still recommend this book as a general overview with the advice to look for a more specific book afterwards that details real life situations and how they are correctly handled.

Great tips! I bought this two years ago when becoming a pharmacy manager and first time manager of anything. I still use the knowledge I gained just from the first few chapters. One example is to gain your employees' trust and respect right off the bat. Do the dirty work. When your team sees you aren't above them, they'll respect you. And use your manager title only when necessary - you can't be Mr. or Ms. boss every minute.

This book is full of quick and easy information that can be utilized immediately. It also provides confirmation that you are using the correct tools for each situation. Great reminder to delegate what you can delegate. It is also a great reminder that managers need to create balance in their life!

I would suggest this book to a warehouse or allembly line manager. This is not applicable to sales and is much to basic. If you're questioning getting into management and want to see if you have the necessary thoughts and mindset maybe I would suggest this.... maybe.
