The book is great in the sense that it presented from a personal experience and it shared a lot of stories so that the readers can relate to.
However, I thought the book did not present enough research. I had read about 33% of the book and it had not presented any number (such as experimental results) to keep my taste up. In addition, the whole premise around the book is that:
1. The executives' time is valuable
2. Use authoritative stance to be heard
3. Boil down your points to get to the point
It seemed to keep drilling on those points and throwing new stories to support those points.
When I first selected this book, I thought it was going to be more tactical, but very quickly realized this was a valuable set of career strategies. The premise, while seemingly simple is well delivered through the context of specific types of meeting scenarios. As I read this, I thought back to the few executive meetings I've attended and now have a better perspective on what went on and more importantly, how best to prepare and respond.
A must read for anyone who uses presentations to pitch thein program or project. Insight for any level in the organization, not just executives.
I've provided copies to my whole team.
great book. Gave one to everyone that works for me.
This did not even measure up to being trivial. This was a major stretch to turn half a dozen pages of material into a book, and he didn't pull it off. Gilbert may be a good presentation consultant / coach, but as a book author he comes up short. The core themes were repeated and repeated and repeated ad nauseum. Everything of importance could have been said in 6-7 pages. And actually was. And then it was said again. And again. No thanks.
