I have studied John Wooden's books and his philosophy for over 35 years, but I found his new book fresh and inspiring. The "12 Lessons for Extraordinary Performance and Personal Excellence" were very good. My favorite section was "50 Maxims and Observations on Leadership". The book concludes with a chapter "Wooden's Team" where former players have short articles on various topics related to leadership. It's amazing that a 99 year old is so prolific & relevant throughout his 90's. I loved it.
I read this book as part of preparation for a meeting and I am so glad I did. I had not read any other Coach Wooden books but now I plan to. So many useful lessons but the book is also entertaining and a quick read if you're interested in the topic. The layout of the book is a bit awkward but that is really my only complaint.
ANYTHING WRITTEN ABOUT JOHN WOODEN IS GREAT READING. ENJOYED THIS BOOK.
This is a great book for anyone in any type of leadership position. Coach Wooden is one of the greatest coaches ever, but in addition to being a great coach he was simply a great man. His insights into leadership apply to any circumstances and the principles of his building blocks can be adapated to all leadership aspects. This book is very useful if you coach, teach, or lead in any area.
Great read for anybody in general. Coach Wooden is a definite inspiration when it comes to sports, and life itself. Definitely a must pick up book.
