In today's job market, how you perform in an interview can make or break your hiring possibilities. If you want to stand a head above the rest of the pack, 301 Smart Answers to Tough Interview Questions is the definitive guide you need to the real, and sometimes quirky, questions employers are using to weed out candidates.
Do you know the best answers to:
--It looks like you were fired twice. How did that make you feel?
--Do you know who painted this work of art?
--What is the best-managed company in America?
--If you could be any product in the world, what would you choose?
--How many cigars are smoked in a year?

Leaning on her own years of experience and the experiences of more than 5,000 recent candidates, Vicky Oliver shows you how to finesse your way onto a company's payroll.

书的内容很好,但只看了六分之一,就发现有几处错误,并且纸张也不好,好像是盗版书!
This book is extremely helpful and, I think, unique among books about job interviewing. Most job interviewing guides tell you to straighten your tie, smile and comb your hair before going on an interview. Once you reach a certain point in your career, you really don't need to be told these things. What this book does is it helps you with real-world job interview problems, such as, in my case, how to explain the two years I took off in my late 20's; and why I stayed in the same job for seven years without getting a promotion. If you have a tricky issue in your job history that you want to cast in the best light on an interview, this is the only book for you.
...unless you are Vicky Oliver from the past, who would benefit immensely from this book. Everybody else - don't bother. With answers that retell what Vicky Oliver said in an interview to the dot, including names of people, products and companies she's worked at; with little to no comments or advice that would apply anywhere else, do yourself a favor, and invest the money elsewhere. I have never in my life regretted buying a book before... The joke's on me though.
This is the first time I have been compelled to write a review but rarely have I found it difficult to salvage even a single piece of useful information from a book. I was astounded to find out this book was written in 2005, given it''s outdated and borderline misogynistic references. It is pretty easy to provide great answers to questions when you are free to create any story that is convenient, but most of those answers are neither practical nor realistic for the average candidate. Definitely not worth the money.
First, I think that every job interview preparation should be tailored specifically for the position (industry, level of responsibility etc.). This book provides not only very broad recommendations and answers to the questions, but very often silly ones.
Second, how could a freelance writer and author give recommendations for the corporate jobs?!
Anyway, I would recommend this book only to fresh college graduates (Humanities, Business) just to get a sense of job interview atmosphere.
If your going to some interviews DO NOT GO UNPREPARED. Buy an interview book, practice in a mirror and with your friends. This has some good questions and if you are prepared to script a story for each question then you will make your impression. Whatever you do make sure you can asnwer tell me about yourself. This is the best question to ask as there are no guidelines and each applicant can take it where they want to go.
