This is a good book because it is talent and succession management in a nutshell. Ms. Sims delivered the key importance with images and diagrams to illustrate her teachings. I would recommend this book for business leaders who are on the go and does not have enough time to sit down and read a book with 100+ pages. This reading is quick and to the point. Nevertheless, it has enough details and steps provided to start working on the talent and succession management of your company.
... therefore I highly recommend this short book. It has colorful graphics that helped me/ any reader quickly digest the content. I made notes in some pages because I wanted to share them. And I scanned other pages to share with clients who are talent managers. There is an old adage that a picture is worth 1000 words, and a story is worth 1000 pictures. This little book should help any reader create the pictures that support your stories, when helping others maximize the talent in their organizations.

very practical
I found this book very helpful in framing up what talent management and succession planning are all about....really is a 30-minute read and provided me many practical ways to describe to my internal customers what is involved and how to make the actions and tasks associated with these processes practical and useful. A complex and confusing topic has been drilled down to its essential elements by Doris Sims.
I often find myself searching for "business, operations-related" examples of why talent and succession management are important and this book provided me with a number of them to use. This quick read also provided me with information that I can share with internal customers to gain their interest and commitment to developing staff and preparing for future staffing needs.
I would recommend this book to business leaders, of course, but also recommend it to implementers of talent and succession management processes - makes you proud of your contributions in this important arena.
