Photos include 2-8-0 Consolidations, 2-8-2 Mikado's, 0-6-0 six-wheeler, 4-6-0 ten-wheeler, the big 4-8-4 Northerns that Rio Grande liked to call"Westerns" and the larger 2-8-8-2 Mallets. Also included areElectro-Motive passenger and freight locomotives FT, F3, F7, GeneralPurpose and Special Duty series, Electro-Motive SD40T-2 "Tunnel Motors,"SD45 and SD50 locomotives, American Locomotive PA-PB and RS-3 series, Fairbanks-Morse H-15-44, and diesel-hydraulic ML-4 locomotives fromGerman manufacturer Krauss-Maffei.

John Kelly grew up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin where his father s best friend was an engineer on the Chicago & North Western. John has been collecting railroad photos, timetables and dining car menus for over 20 years and has a large collection. In addition, he has written on railroad history for Trains magazine, Trains.com, Vintage Rails and Passenger Train Journal, and has authored a half dozen other photographic books on vintage trains. John lives in Madison, Wisconsin where he is employed by the Wisconsin Technical College system as a computer technician."

This is a great picture collection reference book of the Rio Grande Railroad for both the narrow and standard gauge routes. I would recommend it to any one interested in railroading history both steam and diesel; especially those railway buffs of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad company.

The book about the Rio Grande railway is very interesting and shows and tells a history of the rocky mountain railway.

Nice book. Purchased it as a gift and it has some good photos.
