My kids loved this book, so I bought it for my oldest son's soon to arrive baby. Saggy Baggy Elephant thinks her skin is too loose, so she doesn't look good enough, and races around trying to find out how to get nice sleek skin, until she finds a herd of elephants who tell her she is a perfectly dandy baby elephant. I hope I haven't spoiled the suspense of the story for anyone ;-)
This book is not the same as the original little golden book. The story is not the same and the quality of the book is not good. The pages are larger than the cover, so they stick out farther the cover. Also, the front cover of the book is glued on incorrectly, so that you can't really open the book and turn the pages correctly. I ordered 2 Little Golden Books, the other one is not as bad as this one, but I won't order anymore! Very cheaply made!!
I remember this book, even though it must be at least 60 years since I read it! I didn't think it would still be in print, but here it is, and with good reason: the message is timeless - don't be ashamed of who you are; don't listen to what others say about you. So I bought it and loved it all over again. I want to pass it on to my grandchildren, but not yet. I am still enjoying the story and the pictures. But once I do, maybe in another 60 years my grandchildren can pass it on to theirs!
Obviously these little golden books classics speak for themselves... The same stories my parents read to me, same great illustrations... i bought several Of these books to tear the pages out and make a bunting for a book themed baby shower
I loved giving this book to my grandson.m He loves elephants. My sons enjoyed this book as children. The pages are beautiful. The story is endearing.
