Chester Cricket needs help. That's the message John Robin carries into the Times Square subway station where Harry Cat and Tucker Mouse live. Quickly, Chester's good friends set off on the long, hard journey to the Old Meadow, where all is not well.
Houses are creeping closer. Bulldozers and construction are everywhere. It looks like Chester and his friends' home will be ruined and the children of the town won't have a place to play. Harry Cat and Tucker Mouse are used to the city life. Now in the country, they need to find a place to stay and good things to eat. And most of all they must think of a plan to help their friends.

作者简介George Selden (1929–1989) wrote not only the adventures of Chester, Harry, Tucker, and their friends but also The Genie of Sutton Place, which was one of School Library Journal's Best Books of the Year.
Garth Williams (1912–1996) illustrated all of George Selden's Chester Cricket books. His other distinguished work includes Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, and the Little House books.

We are way to old to be reading this book, but we loved the first book, "A Cricket in Times Square", and just had to read this one too. Plus, If you are homeschooling, there are printable, educational vocabulary, word search, and other printable pages available online. Lovable characters, with innocent humor.
A childhood favorite of mine and I ordered this for the little library I am gathering together for my niece. I adored Tucker the Mouse, Harry the Cat and Chester the Cricket when I was growing up. Even re-reading as a 40 something adult, this story did not disappoint. George Seldon is a fantastic author of children's books - timeless classics.
The continuing story of Chester the Cricket, Tucker the mouse and Harry the Cat as they try to save Chester's meadow from development. Great kids story and was also an animated cartoon.
A fun read with my 10 year old son every night before bed :)
Nice sequel to the original Cricket in Times Square. Pleasantly surprised. He is enjoying it just as much as the original. At least one picture every couple chapters is nice transition for younger readers. Vocabulary fine for my 9 year old's 3rd-4th grade comprehension.
