This is an addictive series; every book a roller coaster of action and emotion. I love these books, and this was a perfect ending to his story in Japan, but I hope this is not the last I read of Jack Fletcher's journey. I would love to see what his sister has been up to all this time, and I would love to see how things go when (if?) he gets back to England, from another character's point of view maybe? In a nutshell, Bradford is an amazing story teller, I will read anything he writes!

The Young Samurai series has been a huge success in my classroom of 4th-6th graders, and we highly recommend it. It appeals equally to boys and girls, and most of the class is either reading the series or has completed it; we have had to invest in multiple copies to keep everyone happy. Jack Fletcher's adventures cover eight books, but author Chris Bradford has the knack of keeping the reader engaged to the end. There's plenty of action in every episode, and enough reflection, and Japanese background, to raise the books way above the standard action hero genre. The books include a lot of authentic-sounding technical detail, and children soon learn the many Japanese terms that Bradford uses, helped by the glossary at the back of each volume. All of us (children and adults)who have finished the series want to know what happened to Jack when he returned to England, and whether he will ultimately return to Japan, where he seems to belong.

I cannot condense my words enough while giving adequate praise to the series and its author. In short, this is the most satisfying conclusions to a series that I have ever read in a long time. Chris Bradford is an ingenious storyteller and keeps one and all glued to the pages right from the time one picks up one of his books. I came across the 3rd book in the series (The Way of the Dragon) a couple of years ago quite by chance in a quiet unassuming little bookshop in India and ever since then, I've been hooked. The Ring of Sky has provided me with more excitement and a medley of various emotions in a way I certainly did not expect. To all lovers of adventure, or to those simply looking for an engaging read, I highly encourage you to pick up these books and experience the same joy of reading them that I have.

I def. agree with all the positive feedback below - I came across the series only about 3 months ago, read the first book in 2 days and bought all Young Samurai books next day because they are just incredible!!! Full of action, details, hidden meaning!
They're so POSITIVE that whenever I feel down I just re-read about Jack's adventures and find the strength and inspiration to struggle for my own dreams:) also, I often skip descriptions when reading but I read EVERY word of these books because the style of writing is amazing. I'm so addicted to the story, I even started re-reading the whole series after finishing The Ring of Sky!:)
I hope Mr. Bradford writes many more books (and not just about Jack:)

The series was one of the best I have ever read. I blew through all of the books and I didn't want to read the last one at first because I read the other books in like 1 day each. I was afraid I would finish too quick. I couldn't resist so I read it and finished iron the exact same day. The ending was sad yet happy at the same time. I have to thank my teacher, Mrs. Jones because I read Way Of The Dragon for a book report and was so interested, I read the whole series. You winter disappointed with this book.
